One of the biggest saying judges on reality competition shows say to talented contestants is that they have the “IT” factor. There are very few people in the entertainment world that have the “IT” factor and have also capitalized on it; Jennifer Lopez is one of the few. She has conquered the world of dance, singing, acting, hosting, and much more but the arena she has conquered the most is “likeability.” Therefore, even though I am not a huge fan of the genre of rom-com’s, I decided to preview the movie “Marry Me,” and I am certainly glad I did.
Does it have the regular rom-com cues from boy meets girl, to the incredible connection to the setbacks and then the happy ending, yes it does, but does the magical Jennifer Lopez and charismatic Owen Wilson make it their own and hence worth seeing: YES!
In addition, Marry Me features some great new songs “Marry Me,” “After Love,” and my favorite which is sure to get sung by many of the previously mentioned reality show singing contestants, “On My Way.” This song is heartfelt and will stay with you.
Behind Jennifer, Owen and the new music the third and fourth stars of the film are the production numbers and the FASHION (Does Jennifer look bad in anything?). The supporting cast of Maluma, Chloe Coleman, Sarah Silverman, Michelle Buteau, and John Bradley are all on their game. Kudos to the casting director!
Synopsis: “Kat Valdez (Lopez) is half of the sexiest celebrity power couple on Earth with hot new music supernova Bastian (Maluma, making his feature-film debut). Two suggestions:
- Grab some popcorn and your loved one and go see “Marry Me.”
- When the movie ends, stay in your seats as you will see clips over the credits with couples telling their love stories. This shows us that happy endings are possible for anybody and everybody!
