Islanders Descend On The Island City

Yep, you heard that right! Preparation is in order because there’s an invasion that’s about to engulf the Island city.

The Island folk of Trinidad, Bahamas, Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica, Guyana, just to name a few are on their way. To prepare accordingly make sure to purchase feathers, gems, and the skimpiest of boy shorts and string bathing suits. You’re going to need them to endure the sizzle that’s about to take place in Wilton Manors on Saturday, August 13, 2022.

It’s PrideFête, An LGBTQ+ Caribbean Festival at Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Once an annual sight to be seen was taken away from the Island City for a couple of years. But now it’s back in all its galore and benevolence. So, get ready to whine your waist to the Caribbean beats and fill your belly with the soul cooking from the different Caribbean islands.

PrideFête will have a wealth of stage performances and deejays that embodied the Caribbean Carnival spirit along with traditional Caribbean food that hit the right spot and community vendors that celebrate and cater to both the Caribbean culture and the LGBTQ+ community. Not to mention, drinks on deck to loosen you up so those hips can gyrate up until the late evening. I’ll be nonstop bachata, merenque, compas, dancehall, reggae, soca, zouk and so much more.

It’s a cultural experience that you’re not going to want to miss out on. And get this, it’s open and welcoming to all – all races, all genders, all nationalities! And don’t you dare feel that just because you can’t or don’t whine your waist, you can’t join in on the festivities.
