Thursday September 1

Empire Stage & Artbuzz theatrics present Martin Sherman’s “Bent”. this powerful drama is the first play centered on the Nazi’s use of the holocaust to wipe out gays. Sherman makes a case that gays were treated worse than jews. “Bent” unfolds as a tribute to the power of the human spirit as it depicts the defiance of two brave souls. “Bent” was nominated for both a Pulitzer & a Tony in 1980 and ignited controversy with its suggestion that the gays suffered more than the jews during the holocaust. “Bent” runs today through Sept 25, and tickets are $35 (20% off with promo code – early) by either calling 954-678-1496 or by going to: empirestage.com. 

Friday, September 2

LeBoy features two special guests Chi Chi Larue and Go-Go Boy Eddie Danger, direct from “GoGo For the Gold.” If you can’t make it tonight, not to worry, as they will both be at LeBoy Saturday night as well.

Hamburger Mary’s presents RuPaul’s Drag Races Jaidynn Diore Fierce in two shows tonight. The first is at 8pm which features the RPDR viewing party followed by the “Dinning with the Divas” at 9:30pm starring Jaidynn. After wards she will be performing during their Latin night with showtime at 10:30pm. If you can’t make it tonight, no worries, as Jasmine will also be performing on Saturday, September 3 with two seating’s at 8pm and 10pm.

Pub on the Drive, in association with Kimberly Venom, presents a benefit to send Calypso Monroe Lords (Miss Noche Latina 2022) to Miss Florida F.I. 2022/23. The benefit starts at 11pm and features performances by some of south Florida’s favorite entertainers, silent auctions, live auctions and raffles.

 Saturday, September 3

City Commissioner Chris Caputo presents a celebration of love and life for his partner, Leo Peralta, from 4:30 to 6pm at Richardson Historic Park.

Ramrod presents their monthly Pig Dance from 10pm to 3am with no cover.

The Box Gallery will be presenting Gartel: Media Blitz Palm Beach, a fine art exhibition and experience with live music by DJ VButterfly.  La Mariposa opens with a reception today at 7 pm and continues through October 1st. Laurence Gartel, known as the Father of Digital Art has been pioneering the Computer aesthetic for over 45-years. Visitors to The Box Gallery will witness numerous posters, and media announcements to which Gartel says are the Art itself. “Media is the breath and voice of the Artist,” says Gartel. Bob Carters Actors Workshop & Repertory Company and Youth Actors Guild is excited to offer 2 brand new class/workshop opportunities. The first is today from 12 to 2pm and is “Surprise yourself: An Improv Workshop.” This two-hour improv workshop that will challenge you like never before! You’ll explore various feelings and emotions; some you may never even knew you had. The second, Acting: A Physical Exploration runs from September 6 to October 25 (8 weeks). This course is designed for all levels of experience, both beginner and more advanced students. This experiential (we learn by doing) class focuses on techniques that use physical language and inquiry as a building block for character work, storybuilding, and creativity. Hotspots/Happening Out Art Gallery (3500 NE 12th Avenue) with Dennis Dean presents Provocative Art Show featuring 37 Arts United Artists Artwork from 6-9pm. The juried art exhibition awards will be given out at 8pm. The night will also feature live models and fashions by Chelsea Rousso.

The 24th annual Black Party Fort Lauderdale festival, A Gary Santis event, starts tonight at The Manor Complex. Doors open at 11pm and in the Main Room they feature music by DJ Superstars Abel and Tony Moran. Noche Latina Saturday’s presents Vivacious Velvet’s Boylesque starring Velvet and her sexy Boylesque dancers all night long. Admission is only $10 till midnight for FL Residents and $20 thereafter. Sunday, September 4

The Pub presents the duo of Michael Scott and Lyn Baldwin singing top 40 hits at 6pm. Then at 8pm they present the trio girl group Rhythm Chicks.

Hunters present their Labor Day Weekend Sunday Tea Dance with Two special DJ’s. DJ Ed Talks starts spinning at 4pm and at 8pm DJ Will Calder takes over till closing. They will also feature an outdoor video screen and as always, no cover.

Lit presents special guest DJ Chi Chi Larue in the main room along with Chef Vctor Lords serving delicious food.

The 24th annual Black Party Fort Lauderdale festival, A Gary Santis event, presents the main event with music by DJs Ana Paulo and Paulo at the Manor Complex. Tickets, which includes a VIP option, available in advance at Blackftl2022.eventbrite.com or at the door.

Wednesday, September 7

Hotspots Magazine and Happening Out TV present Pride Skate which this month celebrates the South Florida Flag Football League at Xtreme Action Park from 7-10pm (the first Wednesday of every month) and is a fundraiser for Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade and Street festival. In preparation for its sensational 30th Anniversary Season, the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is seeking interested Volunteers. “With over 400 volunteers, the Kravis Center knows that the show would not go on without the dedicated corps of people who donate their valuable time to the Center,” says Event Manager Karole Cooney. The next New Volunteer Orientation will be held at the Kravis Center’s Rinker Playhouse today at 10am and Tuesday, September 13th at 6pm. Friday, September 9

The Foundry (2306 N. Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors) presents “The Actors” through October 2. “The Actors” – which has been produced nationally – makes its South Florida debut. The award-winning comedy is about a man so grief-stricken by the death of his parents that he hires two actors to come in once a week and pretend to be his parents. Of course, things don’t go quite as planned. The play stars three Carbonell Award Winners (South Florida’s equivalent of The Tonys), Jeni Hacker, David Kwiat and Ronnie Larsen, directed by Stuart Meltzer, also a Carbonell Award Winner. Tickets are $35-$50 and can be purchased at: Playsofwilton.com. 

The Sunshine Cathedral fall performances starts with Mo Mandel at 7pm. Mo is best known for making over 40 appearances on Chelsea Lately, his own hour special on amazon, his numerous appearances on Conan, the Late Late show, has a half hour special on comedy central, and is a recurring guest on popular podcasts such as Adam Carolla, Bertcast, your mom’s house, and the Fighter and the Kid. In the past, Mandel has also guest starred on such hit shows as Modern Family, Castle, Happy Endings, and was one of the leads of NBC’s comedy Free Agents, opposite Hank Azaria and Kathryn Hahn. most recently, Mo created and hosted a special for the discovery channel called small town throwdown. he is also the creator of the hit series, Comedy Knockout, which can be found on TruTV and HBOMax. Tickets are non-refundable, and can be purchased at Sunshinecathedral.org. 

The Pub presents the start of Velvet LeNore’s “Drag Search.” This will be just like Star Search but for Drag Queens.

Saturday, September 10

The Original Ft Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus presents “Life is a Cabaret” at 8pm at UCC Fort Lauderdale (2501 NE 30th Street). This is a cabaret style show of Broadway hits, classic standards, torch songs and everyone’s favorite Fort Lauderdale gay hits.  This live music show will highlight the full LGBTQ gay men’s chorus and lots of chances to hear individual gay Wilton Manors members in solos, duets, trios, etc. For tickets go to FTLGMC.org or call 954832-0060.

The Eagle Wilton Manors presents “New Moon” starring DJ Seth Breezy with a $10 cover after 10pm.

Rebel Wine Bar presents “Pinky’s Up” their one-year anniversary wine festival (celebration). A block party from 5-10pm.

The Pub presents Lenora Jaye & Antonio Edwards birthday brunch Celebration from 2-4pm.
