Greater Fort Lauderdale’s tourism industry takes center stage when Visit Lauderdale and the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA) Broward Chapter host the Together We Shine Tourism Luncheon on from noon to 2pm at the newly expanded Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. A highlight of this year’s event will be the Laudable Awards ceremony, as Visit Lauderdale recognizes seven exceptional individuals for their service and dedication to the tourism and hospitality industry. Nominated by their travel industry colleagues and ranging from hoteliers and tour guides to food and beverage servers, event managers, housekeepers, and everyone else who plays a vital role in creating spectacular visitor experiences, the awards will recognize contributions of outstanding individuals who have gone above and beyond the ordinary in making Greater Fort Lauderdale shine. Elvis Duran’s Spring Break featuring OneRepublic is coming to Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood today at 8pm. The South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble will be presenting “A Night at the Pops” today at 7pm in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. This one-night-only concert will include familiar favorites from the classical era to modern pop music. Several incredible soloists will join the band, including virtuoso pianist Ross Salvosa, playing Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor; Jon Diernbach playing Tuba Tiger Rag; and the 2023 Floatarama Youth Band Solo Competition winner, Maggie Stuteville, on flute, performing Chaminade’s Concertino Opus 107. From a rousing rendition of Casey at the Bat with narrator Brian French to Gershwin, Sousa, Barry Manilow, and the Rolling Stones, there will be something for everyone in this uplifting and fun-filled concert.

The Greater Fort Lauderdale LGBT Chamber of Commerce presents their May Mixer at Plunge Beach Resort (4660 El mar Drive, Lauderdale by the Sea) from 5:30 to 7pm. The Mesozoic Era will soon come to life at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS)Expedition: Dinosaurpresented by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, will stomp into the Museum today and this traveling exhibit will run, through Monday, September 4.  Expedition: Dinosaur combines life-size, lifelike animatronic dinosaurs, featuring realistic movements and sound. Engaging and educational interactive experiences explain dinosaur movement, digestion, and evolution, and showcase the life and methods of dinosaur fossil hunters from the 1800s to today. Eagle Wilton Manors presents “A Night if Love” starring DJ Sharon O Love form 10pm to 3am.

The iconic Studio 54 nightclub scene will come to life again with a twist during “SCENE: Studio 54 Reinvented,” a new social happening! Presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood in support of FLITE Center, this ultimate party will take place from 6 – 10pm, at DAER Nightclub. From the moment guests step inside, they will be transported to a euphoric experience with pulsating music and lights, champagne toast, open bar, and food sensations. Nationally known celebrity impersonators, Joe Posa performing as Liza Minnelli and Michael Dean as Cher, will make special appearances. Their staged productions will turn back time with a nod to classic hits. All proceeds from the event will go directly to FLITE Center’s programs and services, which provide young adults with resources and support to help them transition to independent living. FLITE Center is a one-stop resource center offering all supportive services to youth aging out of foster care, chronically homeless youth, human trafficking survivors, and LGBTQ+ youth.
