Musk added, “This was really before I had any understanding of what was going on, and we had COVID going on, so there was a lot of confusion, and I was told [Vivian] might commit suicide.” Vivian, daughter of Canadian author Justine Wilson and Musk, reportedly distanced herself from her father due to his hostile views on transgender issues. Musk’s comments have sparked backlash many times in the past, with critics condemning his transphobia and misinformation. On social media platform X, Musk continued to use Vivian’s deadname, claiming she was “gay and slightly autistic,” which has been widely criticized by users.
