Queer Kadiff Kirwan Joins Doctor Who’s Star-Studded Cast in Season Two

Kadiff Kirwan, known for his roles in Black Mirror and Slow Horses, is set to join the cast of Doctor Who for its second season, starring alongside queer icon Ncuti (shoo-tee) Gatwa and Varada Sethu. Kirwan will appear in an exciting “intergalactic escapade” episode, which is set to air on April 12th on BBC and Disney+.

In a statement, Kirwan expressed his excitement, saying, “I feel elated to be joining the rich legacy of actors who have guest-starred in Doctor Who…It’s packed with gravity-defying mastery beyond imagination, and being a part of it is an absolute dream. Strap in Whovians, this one is gonna rock your world.”

The episode, written by This Book Is Gay author Juno Dawson, is said to be one of the most ambitious and expensive in Doctor Who history. Kirwan, whose career spans roles in Chewing Gum, I May Destroy You, and My Policeman has long been open about his coming out journey. Doctor Who season two premieres on April 12 at 8 a.m. GMT on BBC iPlayer and will stream on Disney+ for international audiences.
