A disturbing attack in Washington, D.C. has left a gay man injured and shaken, just days before he and his husband planned to attend WorldPride. Around 12:30 PM, Addam Schauer-Mayhew was watching tennis on his couch when a masked individual approached his rainbow-decorated home and hurled a baseball-sized rock through the front window.
The rock struck Schauer-Mayhew in the head, leaving him bloodied. Husband, Bryan Schauer, rushed downstairs after hearing Addam cry out in pain. The couple believes the assailant may be a local teen who had previously yelled homophobic slurs at them. They also noted the suspect appeared to be wearing an ankle monitor and was accompanied by another, younger teen.
The incident, captured on their home security camera, is now under investigation. The couple is calling on the public to help identify the attacker and urging police to consider hate crime charges.
