Hotspots Happening Out, the largest nonprofit LGBTQ media company in America, is celebrating our community’s recognition of one of our own. The host of The FayWhat Show and anchor at Queer News Tonight, FayWhat, has been recognized by OutSFL Your Choice Awards. In the category ‘Best Local TV Personality, the win was celebrated across South Florida’s LGBTQ community as being the only woman nominated against some of South Florida’s most famous NBC, CBS, and ABC anchors.
FayWhat has been a unique trailblazer for Hotspots Magazine and Happening Out Television Network. She is one of the community’s most powerful Lesbian voices for advocacy and support of LGBTQ events and needs. Fay is one of the very few queer women with such a powerful voice in the LGBTQ community. Los Angeles and New York have no streaming television representation for a woman’s voice like Fay. Fay hosts many of the most important events in South Florida, including anchoring the Stonewall Pride Parade.
Hotspots Happening Out Executive Producer Al Ferguson summarized the importance of this recognition by saying, “When we created The FayWhat Show, it was always the goal to elevate a queer woman to a voice of equality in our LGBTQ community. That rarely happens. The opening of the show is a nod to television trailblazers like Mary Tyler Moore and Marlo Thomas. Her show opens traveling across South Florida using MTM’s walk and That girl’s original lyrics for Fay.
In its very first broadcast, it was established that women in our LGBTQ community were important, powerful, and vitally needed. Fay represents all of that. We are all proud of this recognition that a queer woman could win this award among a sea of talented men. The recognition is well deserved.” We are so happy that FayWhat is anchoring this evening’s Queer News Tonight. Fay… What a wonderful recognition of your work….
