A mysterious fire destroyed The Quest, a decades-old LGBTQ+ nightclub in Birmingham, around 10 p.m. last Thursday. Firefighters battled the blaze, and officials say no injuries were reported. Authorities are still investigating the cause. The bar, which opened in 1982, had closed in 2024 after the city revoked its license for not taking enough measures to keep the bar safe. While the business stopped operating, the building remained standing. Its colorful exterior mural showed the name of the bar, with each letter colored by the stripes of different LGBTQ+ flags.
