NYC Mayor Mamdani Appoints Trans Woman Taylor Brown To Lead First Office Of LGBTQIA+ Affairs

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is launching the city’s first-ever Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs and appointing attorney Taylor Brown as its inaugural director. Brown will become the first transgender person in history to lead a New York City office or agency. The executive order establishing the office will be signed at the Brooklyn Community Pride Center in Crown Heights. Mamdani said in a statement, “New York City is proud of its LGBTQIA+ community and will refuse to deny healthcare, safety, or dignity to anyone on the basis of their identity. With Taylor Brown as Director of the new Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs, the city’s queer community will not only be celebrated, but protected at every turn.”
