Out With Scott – By Scott Holland

On Wednesday March 11, Hotspots Happening Out hosted the “FayWhat?! Hotspots Magazine Cover Reveal Party” at Arts United Gallery. This is the first time in the 41-year history of Hotspots that a non-celebrity woman has been on the cover solo. We couldn’t think of any local icon more deserving than our own FayWhat?! The gallery was packed with Fay’s closest loved ones and friends, and on a personal note I was so happy to reveal the cover with my sista Tony Lima. Fay is the first, but she certainly wont be the last!!!

On Thursday, March 19, Diana Ross once again sold out and “rocked” the house at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hardrock Hotel and Casino Hollywood. You are always guaranteed to have a good time and leave smiling and happy at a Diana Ross concert!!

On Friday March 20 the Gay Men’s Chorus presented their next concert, “ABBA” at The Parker. This concert sold out 5 weeks prior and was so much fun. When the curtain opened and you saw this gigantic Neon “Abba” sign (which I found out after was sponsored by the Seminole Hardrock…thanks Susan and Erick) and all the 140 something members were wearing this Gold shirt you knew you were in for a good time. In our little circle of friends was Kal, Albie, Michael Murphy, Fay and Jason Nunez…we had a blast!!

On Saturday, March 21, we started the day very early with the 21st annual Florida AIDS Walk and Music Festival, presented by AHF Pharmacy, Wells Fargo and FedEx on Fort Lauderdale Beach. AHF made sure there was plenty of hydration (water, drink and fruit) not only on the beach but throughout the 3-mile walk. Afterwards the music concert headliner was the one and only Queen Latifa, who rocked the beach.  You can tell she was genuinely happy to be performing for this event…thanks Queen!! Its not too late to donate as donations are taken till March 31. If you want to donate to the Hotspots team, go to www.FAW.lgbt.

Directly following FAW, was the official After party: the Flockfest pool party at the Easton Roofdeck. As usual Steve, Kevin and the Flockfest team turned out with a phenomenal pool party starring DJ Mohamed.

Later that night Latinos Salud held their annual gala at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The gala had also sold out a few weeks prior and once again was an amazing event. Congrats to my long-time friends Dr Stephen, Rafaeli and the entire Latinos Salud team!!

On Sunday, March 22, Commissioner Paul Rolli’s Launch party for his Wilton Manors Mayoral campaign took place from 1 to 2:30pm at the Gray Box Theater. Many people came out to support Paul (showing just how much he is loved) including dignitaries Mayor of Fort Lauderdale Dean Trantalis and Wilton Manors Commissioners Mike Baracchi and Chris Caputo.
