On Wednesday, March 25, Multi-platinum dance music icon Crystal Waters electrified the 305 with “I AM HOUSE Orchestrated Miami,” a groundbreaking live experience uniting legendary house anthems with the power and prestige of a full live orchestra. Taking place at the James L. Knight Center the event brought Waters together with defining voices behind era-shaping classics that continue to ignite dance floors across generations: Robin S, CeCe Peniston, Barbara Tucker, Ultra Naté, Inaya Day, Janice Robinson (Living Joy), Thea Austin (SNAP!), Byron Stingily (Ten City), and Duane Harden. This was a great night of music.
Saturday, March 28, was the night for the annual Sunserve Gala at the Venue Fort Lauderdale with this year’s theme: Tropicana! Once again, this gala was sold out and, in my opinion, this was the best year yet with empowering messages, fantastic entertainment and delicious food, what’s not to love. Congrats to my sister, Tony Lima, John, Keith and the entire Sunserve staff on another amazing gala!
On Saturday and Sunday, March 28 and 29, Compass Palm Beach produced the annual Palm Beach Pride at Bryant Park. Sunday also featured the annual parade. Congrats to Compass on another successful Pride.
Also on Sunday, The Seminole Hardrock Hotel and Casino Hollywood presented Dancing with the Stars Live at the Hard Rock Live. The night starred an all-star cast of professional dancers: Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, Pasha Pashkov, Emma Slater, Ezra Sosa, Britt Stewart and Hailey Bills. Under the direction of Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mandy, these fan favorites brought the artistry and athleticism of the ballroom to life!
On Tuesday, March 31 Transinclusive group presented their annual event at the Pride Center at Equality Park in honor of Transgender Day of Visibility. As usual, this was a very impactful event, and although I was happy to see it busier than previous years, next year I would like to see this wall-to-wall people!!
On Wednesday, April 1, Live Nation and Broward Center presented “Countess Luann – Lu Niverse” at the Amaturo Theater. This event featured Luann, and special guest housewife Dorinda, in an unparalleled behind the scenes look at the iconic moments from Real Housewives of New York with inside scoop. Afterwards, they talked housewife’s trivia and had a Q&A section where nothing was off limits. Former housewife Kelly Bensimon was also in attendance as well as many housewife’s from other franchises.
On Saturday, April 4, Arts United Gallery presented the opening reception for “Elements: The Power of Nature,” a visual Art Juried Exhibition where former Hotspots Cover Model Sergio (he has been on the cover multiple times), who happens to be an incredibly gifted artist was the People’s Choice Winner.
The third annual Lauderdale Tropical Bear Week took place from March 31 to April 6 and featured Six days of bears, Six days of sunshine, and Six days of dancing, splashing, laughing, and celebrating in Wilton Manors. Congrats to Chuck, Greg and t their entire team on another successful year.
