Miami Beach just said: you can take the crosswalk, but not the culture. After Florida officials removed the iconic rainbow crosswalk from Ocean Drive, the city brought it back—with a twist. The original bricks have now been repurposed into a new pedestrian walkway, complete with rainbow benches and plaques celebrating LGBTQ+ history.

Leaders are calling it what it is: a protest. The original crosswalk, first installed in 2009, was torn out without notice in 2025—but Miami clearly wasn’t done fighting. Now, the rainbow lives on… just louder, prouder, and impossible to ignore
