Christian Nationalist pastor Doug Wilson, whom Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth invited to preach at a Pentagon worship service earlier this year, is drawing attention after criticizing President Donald Trump in a recent interview published by the Financial Times. Wilson said, “I view Trump as chemo…America has cancer.
Trump is toxic, and I think he’s killing the cancer faster than he’s killing the rest of us.” Wilson then shared he didn’t vote for Trump in 2016, adding, “I didn’t believe Trump at all, for all the obvious reasons. He was and is an ungodly man.
He’s a natural man, a carnal man, a blasphemous man.” Despite those remarks, Wilson said he voted for Trump in 2020 and 2024 because of his Supreme Court appointees, whose rulings have supported anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-abortion policies. Wilson also opposes women voting and advocates for biblical law in the United States.
