Former Wilton Manors Vice Mayor and three-time City Commissioner Julie Carson has announced her campaign for mayor, highlighting her decade of public service and a platform focused on fiscal responsibility, inclusion, and responsible growth. Carson served on the City Commission from 2010 to 2020, a period that saw significant growth and change in Wilton Manors.
During her tenure, the city gained national attention after becoming the second city in the United States to have an entirely LGBTQ governing body, further strengthening its reputation as a welcoming and inclusive community. Carson said, “Wilton Manors has always been a place that embraces the unique, stands up for what is right, and welcomes people exactly as they are…I’m running for Mayor because I love this city and believe deeply in its future.”
Throughout her time in office, Carson supported efforts aimed at government transparency, ethics, and quality-of-life improvements. She also advocated for seniors, children, people with disabilities, and transgender residents. Carson said her campaign will focus on issues including public safety, economic development, tax reform, and housing affordability. In addition to her public service, Carson brings more than 30 years of experience in real estate, development, and commercial transactions.
