Along with Janet Jackson and Madonna, she ranks as one of MTV Video Music Awards most nominated female artist ever with 10 nominations. According to Billboard Magazine she ranks as the 144th most successful R&B artist of all time. ìLooking for a New Loveî and ìReal Loveî are just 2 of her hits from a list that include dozens. 7 years after winning the Grammy for best new artist, in 1995, she became an independent artist and entrepreneur by establishing hew own label, Avitone Recordings, following in the footsteps of fellow artist Prince. One of the highlights of her career was when she participated in the groundbreaking project BAND AID to aid famine relief in Ethiopia, at the invitation of Sir Bob Geldof and featured alongside such performers as George Michael, Sting, Bono, Boy George and more. Jody has recently enjoyed 3 top ten singles on the billboard dance music chart, including the #1 global dance anthem ìI Want Your Loveî, which also went #1 in the U.K. ñ adding to an impressive chart span of 32 top ten singles as a solo artist!
