Congratulations to Miss Shannon Leigh who won the Miss Metropolitan Continental Elite 2009 Pageant recently at Revolution night club. Leigh has been in the female impersonation business for 32 years and shows no signs of stopping. There will be a fundraiser at Revolution Orlando Thursday, April 2 for Leigh to go to the Miss Metropolitan Continental Elite 2009 Pageant in Chicago April 12th through 14th. Let’s help a Florida girl win!
The T-Dance has been around for many centuries now, though nobody can agree on where or when the first one started. The members of the GaYBOR District Coalition are putting their own unique spin on a GLBT T-Dance, combining a traditional T-Dance with The GaYBOR experience! Arrive in Ybor City, park your car and stroll the streets. First stop is Sunday brunch. Try Streetcar Charlie’s, the new unlimited Seafood Feast at Gaspar’s Grotto or any of the many other dining experiences in GaYBOR. Next is time for shopping and art galleries. Be sure to stop by MC Film for the latest in fashions and personal necessities! It’s 3 pm, let the T-Dances begin! At Spurs Country Western Club, on the outside patios, you will find a free outdoor barbecue while country dance teams practice steps inside. Bonnie & Gang are in the outside Beer Gardens at The Crowbar, just across the street from Spurs.
One block away you will find L’ Olivier’s offering a French twist on the traditional T-Dance. Great French food, cheap drinks and an excellent drag and cabaret show! Over at Streetcar Charlie’s, the dining room and White Room are filling up as the cruisy crowds are spilling out onto the streets. Around the corner is the new Ybor City Social Club. Here you will find a laid back atmosphere with a full coffee and liquor bar. It’s time for a slice of pizza at any one of our 3 great pizzerias. New York New York is the unofficial pizza meeting place for entertainers and employees between shifts. As the sun is setting things are heating up at G.Bar. DJ Greg Anderson has the dance floor filled while dancers are on the bar tops! But wait, there is more! This is the GaYBOR experience! On the way home stop to check out your favorite GaYBOR District Coalition Members clubs. In Tampa check out GaYBOR Members Chelsea Club and The Copa. In St. Pete check out Gaybor Members Detours, Georgie’s Alibi and Club Nautico! No matter where T-Dance started, discover the whole new experience of over the top fun – GaYBOR Style.
