Dishing with Mark & Carrie May 13, 2010
What a surprising and day I had on Monday. Thank you all for making it so special. Mark had me wash down our 1979 white limo convertible, HRH Princess Priscilla, for a nice drive around town. She drives like a dream. Work in progress and soon to open in Grand Central District in St. Pete, Queen & I Thai Restaurant (former owner of King & I Thai) owner Brian and Don took a group of us out to eat at Thai Thani in Channelside. We had the special bamboo room where you sit on the floor. Sake was ordered and the Thai menu was delicious. By the way, Brian just recently returned from a month tour in Thailand. We all hopped on the trolley back to GaYBOR to go to the Judy B Goode Show at Streetcar Charlie’s. It was a packed house with many other fellow birthday partier’s, including Bonnie (Crowbar), Patrick W, Eric and, of course, me. Charlie brought out a huge birthday cake for all the birthday celebrators. A special song and backup choreographed dance act was done by the now famous Streetcar Dic’s with Judy and Pianoman Paul leading the entertaining troupe. So many friends…. thanks for the great birthday wishes! Finishing up the night we walked to Crowbar to see Stormie Normie get the karaoke singers in the outside patio chirping and making harmonious sounds. One last stop was to see Mamma at the Reservoir for a miniguinnie.
Sunday in GaYbor has always been our favorite day! Now Sundays have just gotten a whole lot HOTTER! Start you relaxing day off with brunch at Streetcar Charlie’s, Hamburger Mary’s, Gaspar’s Grotto or Joffery Coffee Shop, Fresh Mouth, JJ’s Cafe, and King Corona. In the early afternoon there is always something to do, like shopping at MC Film, catch a film at Centro Muvico 20, sports TV at Rock-n-Sports (who doesn’t like drunken straight guys?), or have a frozen drink on the balcony of Centro Canteen while watching the world go by. NOW at 4 pm every Sunday there will be a live band performing at the new bar, “PLAY Ybor”! This past weekend the patio was filled, the misters were cooling the crowd off as some good dish was going on around the bar! Then there is also the Gong Show at Hamburger Mary’s and at Streetcar Charlie’s there is the parade of suntanned hunks! Don’t forget to stop by The Green Iguana, The Reservoir, Bernine’s or The Buddha Lounge for some sushi and cocktails. Late night dancing begins at G.BAR and The Castle. Park your car one time and enjoy yourselves! Viva La GaYbor!
