It was last Wednesday and the stir of craziness in Tampa city government and politics had me scratching my head. Every morning, Mark and I talk about politics over our freshly ground and brewed Kona coffee and reading the paper. Plans on running for Tampa City Council in the future had just turned a corner to apply now for the opening on one of the two council members’ seats. Talking over the situation with friends and knowing that I could really make a positive achievement in city affairs, I entered the race for the appointment to the citywide District 3 slot. I am now in the interviewing process for the vacant seats of Linda Saul-Sena and John Dingfelder.

What a CRAZY week this was! New clubs opening while others go down in flames before opening the door! Facebook drama, drama and more drama! From “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Shannel and entourage did the GaYBOR Tour. The GaYBOR Coalition meeting had over 70 in attendance at Muvico 20. Guest speakers included District 5 Hillsborough County Commissioner candidate Linda Saul-Sena, Susan Willson from Tampa Bay & Co, Jorge A. from Pride on 7th and Ed Turanchik on Tampa’s new high speed rail train. Following the meeting there was a social at Hamburger Mary’s. A local TV anchor celebrity and his wife were spotted here. Of course we kidnapped them and finished partying the night away together at the Honey Pot! Happy birthday parties for Scott and Shane! Oh, look for a funny and great parade in Ybor at the International Shriner’s Convention in Tampa from August 13 through the 18th.
When Scott & Mike asked us to join them for a birthday bar crawl in Lucy the Limo we said, “Yes!: Joining us also was Momma from the Reservoir Bar! First stop was Chelsea Nightclub, where the shots started to line up! Into Lucy and we were off to North Tampa to visit the Body Shop Bar. This club was formerly called Keith’s Lounge. The club manager treated us to a round of drinks as we explored the new decor! There’s a car driving out of a wall, cut outs of hot guys everywhere, even a mannequin with spooky eyes! After visiting with old friends it was off to Metropolis/2606. Both bartenders Buzzy and George were at the taps. We even had Momma behind the bar there! Since Scott likes his beer, we decided to take him to KIKIKI III on Kennedy for a picture and to play the best jukebox in Tampa. Saving the best for last, it was back to The Ybor Social /Ybor Eagle! The club was wall to wall with fun people dancing the night away. CJ was being very naughty downstairs to a packed house! Thank y,ou Scott & Mike, for a very fun night! Then they fly off to Key West!
Two new clubs opened in the Tampa Bay Area. The Tru Lounge in Largo (TheTruLounge.com) and Club Chill Chamber in New Port Richey (ClubChillChamber.com). We are looking forward to visiting them both soon!
