Photographer Gio Spano’s Exhibit “The Art of Capturing Alluring Images”
This exhibit is a celebration of the beauty of male form.
“In my opinion, the male form is one of nature’s most beautiful artistic creations,” Spano said.
He chose strong images that will evoke an emotional response from the viewer.
“That’s what the show is about,” he said. “For me, an image is captivating when it speaks to the viewer and to me as the artist.”
Spano’s background is in Fine Art, Commercial, Erotic, Fashion and Physique photography. He’s been shooting photos since the age of 10, when a family friend gave him his first camera. He was instantly hooked — photography came naturally to him and he pursued it as hobby. With the exception of a couple college photography classes, he is self taught.
The talented photographer has spent his entire professional career working in the entertainment industry. He started his career as an Actor/Model and then went on to become a successful Producer, Director, Writer, and Corporate Executive. Several years back he decided it was time to pursue his true passion — photography.
Spano worked and lived in Italy in the mid 1990s and it was this time period that truly inspired him as an artist. Every day he would go to a different museum or cathedral and he was amazed at what he would find. He was truly captivated by the beauty of the magnificent imagery of the human body found in sculpture and art throughout Italy.
“The ancient Greeks and Romans were not ashamed to show the splendor of the nude body in all manifestations of their art,” he explained.
When he returned to America he began to photograph people who were not ashamed of their bodies and his artistic nudes and physique images are his true passion now. Prior to that, he was more of a nature photographer shooting trees and landscapes.
“Shooting beautiful people is much more rewarding,” Spano said.
Spano also works as a photographer in the adult film industry and he won a Grabby Award for Best Photographer in 2010. He works closely with his partner of many years, Howard Andrew of Fabscout Entertainment and is the photographer behind the very successful ad campaigns for Fleshjack and 1-800-Gay-Live.
Spano said that he is honored to be involved in those campaigns and loves the relationships he has built with his clients.
“I’m very proud of these campaign shoots,” he said.
“When I’m photographing, I always tell a model that the eyes are the most important,” he said.|
Spano is looking forward to exhibiting in Dennis Dean Galleries.
“Dennis and I have known each other for several years,” he said. “I’m really excited. I’ve been a big fan of his work and as a photographer, I love what he has done. I’m excited to come together and honored that he asked me.”
Spano is also looking forward to showing his work in his current hometown.
“This is my first local show, so I’m really excited to be putting my work out into a community that I love,” he said.
