RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 – Hotspots Interviews Magnolia Crawford

The second part of the two-part premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race introduced us to some interesting characters (I am living for Bianca Del Rio). The winner of the photo challenge was the beautiful Trinity Kardashian Bonet and the winner of the main challenge was Bianca. This week the eliminated contestant, Magnolia Crawford, was clear. Not only was her outfit not up to the challenge, but she was rude to the judges and in her “Lip Sync for Your Life,” she did not know even one word of the song. Not throwing shade, just being honest. Having said that, Magnolia was much more pleasant to interview than she was on the show.

At what age did female impersonation become an interest and how did you pick your name?

It became an interest at the tender age of seven. My name came from nowhere, I just made it up. However, I like to tell people I was named by my lesbian parents, Joan and Cindy, after Steel Magnolias.

How many times did you apply to be on RPDR and how did it feel when you found out you got chosen?

I applied twice, and it was very exciting to be chosen. I wanted to be there despite what people are saying.

How horrible is it to be the first eliminated (sort of) and how are you going to leverage your short time on Drag Race?

I look as myself as the second to be eliminated. It puts me in very good company…Tammie Brown. If you watched the episode, you will agree, I was definitely memorable. If I have any regrets for my time on Drag Race, it’s not keeping my damn runway dress.

Who do you want to win?

I would love to see Milk win as I love her style of drag.

Tell me about the man behind the drag persona.

Reynolds is a flight attendant who loves his job. I totally respect full-time drag queens, but for me it’s a hobby and I intend to keep it that way. I love to travel and I have been all over the world.

Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.

I don’t like to perform or be on stage. I feel like performance is a necessity of drag and I do it as a result, but that’s not the reason I do drag.

What’s ahead for Magnolia Crawford?

I’m going to continue to build my YouTube channel. I also have some upcoming projects, one with Adam Barta that I am very excited about.
