What’s Hot South Florida: 9/18 – 9/24

A week ago Tuesday was the Monthly Fort Lauderdale Mack Mixer which this month took place at Thasos Greek Taverna and was once again packed. For future Networker or Luncheon dates visit MackPlanet.com. On Friday night a group of community oriented citizens got together at the Ren for a Latin Event against Homophobia…KIDOS! Later that night, Filthy Gorgeous Fridays at Score presented the official Erasure after party, which starred DJs AB and Mac with the Penny Back Boyz and was hosted by the one and only Elaine Lancaster. On Saturday Impulse Group South Florida hosted their most powerful event yet…”I Am,” at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. This is part of their efforts to push boundaries and give their attendees an experience unlike anything they have ever been a part of. Also on Saturday, TropiXXX featured a mini fashion show with sexy models including Titan and Colt model Sam Colt. Afterwards Sam stayed around for interviews. Later that night, as part of the Ramrod’s 20th anniversary weekend, Sam was in the cage looking very sexy! Also that night, Epic Saturdays at the Manor presented a DECS South Beach Fashion Show with some of the hottest models in South Florida. The night also celebrated the birthday of DJ Oren Nizri. On Sunday, the Ramrods 20th anniversary caped off with the main event with $1,500 in cash and prizes in a balloon drop at midnight. In addition, they gave away the much sought after anniversary pins.

Thursday, September 18

Village Pub presents Shardé Ross’ Jumpstart Thursday at 9:45pm celebrating their 1st anniversary with special guests Nancy Ross, Anastasia Ross and Tonna McKenzie. They invite you to come out and celebrate a year of fabulous shows with Sharde.

As excitement continues to build for the 6th Annual Ft. Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (FGLFF) opening on October 10, organizers have announced two hilarious films to be shown at the Classic Gateway Theatre as part of the festival’s GLOW series.  The first film “Such Good People” showed 3 weeks ago, but the second film “Cupcakes” will be screened tonight at 8pm. Thanks to HRC, the Community Partner for Tickets are $10 for Members, $12 for Non-Members and $7 for students with a valid ID on day of show.

Friday, September 19

Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) will hold a special 20th Anniversary screening of the award-winning dark comedy crime film, Pulp Fiction at 9:30pm at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale) and at Cinema Paradiso-Hollywood (2008 Hollywood Blvd.)  Film tickets are $10.00, in advance at FLIFF.com or $12 at the door the day of the event.

Ramrod presents their monthly Mandance starring DJ Herbie James from 11 pm to 3 am.

 

Saturday, September 20

Epic Saturdays at the Manor presents, direct from RuPaul’s Drag Race, the one and only Willam performing “Boy Is A Bottom,” “Eulogizer,” “Silicone,” and more. There will also be a Meet and Greet for the 1st 100 guests in line at 11pm. The night will also star DJ Daniel Kristopherre. In the Ivy Lounge and Patio, Noche Latina Saturdays presents special guest, the Latina bombshell, Selena Jimenez along with hostess Viva Mirage and DJ Nena. Epic Saturdays is from 11pm to 4 am and features Hot Go-Go Boys and no cover!

Stable in association with the South Florida Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, The House of the Rising Sun present a Summer Car Wash from 2-5pm.

Freestyle artist Fascination will be appearing at We Got The Beats Record Store from 4-6pm to attend a listening party for her new CD “The Fascination Collection” which includes familiar hits like “Why You Wanna Go” and “Don’t You Think It’s Time” as well as new music like her fabulous dance cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways.”  Meet & greet Fascination in an intimate setting, get her new CD and autographs.

Sunday, September 21

The Boardwalk presents their annual Employee Turnabout featuring all your favorite bartenders, managers, owners, employees and entertainers dressed up with show time being 7 pm to midnight. This event will also feature live and silent auctions and be the first Fund Raiser benefitting the Miss Florida Pageant Female Impersonator Foundation.

 

Ramrod presents their monthly EDC (Enforced Dress Code) night on the patio from 9pm to 12 am.

 

Monday, September 22

Rumors annual Turnabout and Silent Auction to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation takes place at 9:30pm.  The staff will trade in their work shoes and bar blades for high heels and new lip shades to brave the stage in drag to raise money for this worthwhile cause.

Smarty Pants Turns 11

Starting on Friday September 19 and going through Sunday, Smarty Pants will be celebrating their 11th anniversary. On Friday they feature Kick off dinner at 5ish followed by Karaoke with Don Casteel. On Saturday they feature breakfast with Shawnie Bob and Billy from 8 am to 1 pm and then Karaoke with Don Casteel at 9pm to 1 am. On Sunday from noon to 4 pm is the 11 th annual Classic Car show with the Flamingo Auto Group which will also feature a BBQ. At 2ish catch the anniversary show featuring Nikki Adams. Then from 4 to 8 pm they feature Karaoke with Don Casteel and at 8:30pm it’s Bingo with John W. Congrats to Mark and Fritz Ann for 11 years of success.

 

Roosters turns 30

The Iconic H.G. Roosters in West Palm Beach turns 30 and will be celebrating from Monday September 22 through Sunday September 28. On Monday, they feature Bingo with a $500 cash jackpot in addition to huge bar tabs. On Tuesday they feature a $200 cash prize Pool Tournament from 9 pm to 1 am. On Wed, Thurs and Fri they feature amazing drink specials with DJ Gil on Thursday and DJ Luke on Friday. Also on Friday is a Champagne Toast at midnight with Daziee Deluxx. On Saturday, they will feature a show to remember with the queen of Palm Beach Melissa St. John and special guests Daziee Deluxx and Valerie Dior as well as DJ Gil.
