Equality Florida’s Suncoast Celebration Honoring Barbara Zdravecky

EQFL Suncoast Celebration

Enjoy a night under the stars with Equality Florida at the annual Suncoast Celebration, presented by PNC Bank, which will be held on Saturday, November 22 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on top of the Palm Avenue Parking Garage, located at 1262 N. Palm Avenue in Sarasota. The Voice for Equality Award will be given to Barbara Zdravecky at this event.

Attendees will enjoy live music, hors d’oeuvres, open bars, and a program that includes a “State of the State” address by Equality Florida Chief Executive Officer Nadine Smith. Considering how far we’ve come as a nation this year, Nadine Smith will tell attendees what this means for us here in Florida, and how far we still have to go in our quest for equality.

The highlight of this year’s event will be the presentation of the Voice for Equality Award to Barbara Zdravecky, who is the President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida. She has served in this capacity for over 20 years. Under her leadership, the annual yearly budget has grown from $1 million to over $10 million, and the number of people employed with Planned Parenthood locally has grown from a mere handful to over 100. Over 30,000 people are served by Planned Parenthood and its seven health centers across southwest and central Florida. Zdravecky, a Florida resident for nearly 40 years, worked as a nurse with the First Hospice Program in Key West and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami before becoming involved with Planned Parenthood.

Tickets cost $125 if purchased in advance and $150 if bought at the door. 100% of proceeds go straight to Equality Florida and the important work the organization does to further equality across the state. No physical tickets will be issued; a list of names will be checked at the door. Cocktail attire is requested of all attendees.
