What's Hot South Florida

This past weekend was filled with big events. Saturday was the return of Tampa Pride after 13 years and it was a huge success with 30,000 in attendance from what I heard from police estimates, and I believe it, because the streets were PACKED! On Saturday night, Ybor City was also packed, where I saw lines to get into Bradley’s on 7th, G Bar and Liquid Tampa. At Liquid they featured Pearl from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 to a packed house and she turned it! Also on Saturday night was the eighth anniversary and closing party for Discotekka (sad I couldn’t be there, but I did have a blast in Tampa), which as you can see from the pic was packed all night, well into the wee hours of the morning (La Puta Nota after hours). Congrats to Joe, Mike, Alyson, Milancita, Danny, Christian and the entire staff on a closing party that will be talked about for years to come! Also, Saturday and Sunday was Pridefest of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches, which once again was successful. Congrats to Compass. On Sunday night, my buddy Josh T. Maywalt presented the annual Florida Regional Entertainer of the Year Pageant at The Honey Pot in Ybor City. I really had a blast as it was a great and fair pageant. Congrats to Josh, Chrissy and the entire staff, as well as your newly crowned Florida EOY, Vanity Love, who did an AMAZING job!

This is HOT

A contemporary screwball comedy about a young gay couple, Richard (Michael Urie, “Ugly Betty”) and Alex (Randy Harrison, “Queer As Folk”), who discover a secret room filled with cash while house-sitting for their wealthy humanitarian friends, who have unfortunately just died in a car accident while doing missionary work for the children Bhutan!

Though saddened, Richard and Alex want what everyone wants: success, money, and, of course, a fabulous house in LA! After the boys discover wads of cash that the deceased couple will now obviously no longer need, mayhem ensues as they deal with jealousy, sibling rivalry, greyhounds, labradoodles, porpoises, and other friends who want the money as well.

Such Good People is a refreshing and lighthearted throwback to the classic caper comedies of the 60s and 70s.

The DVD, which features deleted scenes, bloopers, behind-the-scenes footage, and the Such Good Trailer is available on Apr. 14, and is 98 minutes long and is unrated. Such Good people is on sale at WolfeVideo.com for only $19.95
