Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida Presents “Street of Dreams”

The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, under the artistic direction of Gordon Roberts, will be presenting a special concert called “Street of Dreams.” Joining the 175-man group for one night only is Tony Award nominee and Theater World Award winner Ann Hampton Callaway. This concert will be performed one night only, on Saturday, June 27 at 8 p.m. at Bailey Hall on the Central Campus of Broward College (3501 Davie Rd., Davie).

The concert “Street of Dreams” is an ode to Broadway musicals, featuring standards and contemporary favorites from the Great White Way. Some of the songs you can expect to hear at the concert include “It’s a Grand Night for Singing,” “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” “Look to the Rainbow” and “People” (the latter song made famous by Barbra Streisand).

Ann Hampton Callaway will be joining the Chorus for this evening only. A noted singer and songwriter, Callaway has composed over 250 songs which have been heard on Broadway, off-Broadway, and on television. She has written tunes for her sister, Liz Callaway, as well as noted actresses and singers Patti LuPone, Liza Minnelli and, as aforementioned, Barbra Streisand. She is also well-known for having written and sung the theme song to the 1990s television sitcom The Nanny.

“Ann is one of the leading interpreters of the ‘great American songbook.’ That is why our chorus is so happy that she will be headlining our “Street of Dreams” tribute to Broadway,” Maestro Roberts said about the concert’s special guest.
