A week ago Monday was the first annual Miss, Mr. and Plus Island City pageant produced by Corrie Boyd and Alyson Thomas. Congrats to the winners: Naomi Wynters (Miss), Tayanna Love (Plus) and Antonio Edwards (Mr.). Naomi qualifies to enter Miss Florida F.I. 2015/16 in August and Tayanna is the first contestant to qualify for the return of Miss Florida F.I. at Large next April. On Tuesday, the GLFGLCC presented their quarterly networking luncheon at the beautiful Steak 954 at the W Fort Lauderdale. Once again it was a well-attended and informative luncheon. On Saturday night there were many events. The first was the annual MDGLCC gala. This year the event was entitled the Sapphire Gala and it took place at the newly modeled 1 Hotel and Homes South Beach, which is absolutely beautiful. Congrats to Steve Atkins, Jorge Richa and the entire MDGLCC staff on another sold-out gala. At this point, the Hotspots staff split up. Some of us stayed in Miami and went to Twist to hang out, and then over to Score to dance to the sounds of Israeli Erez Ben Ishay. The other staff group headed back to Fort Lauderdale to The Manor Complex to see Miss Fame from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 7. As expected, she was FABULOUS, and as a bonus, she was super sweet. The Manor was packed with Miss Fame admirers, who all enjoyed the great sounds of DJ Paul Deleon. As a bonus, it was great to see special guest Poizon Ivy performing in the Latin Lounge and Patio. On Sunday, Misty Eyez presented the annual Miss and Mr. Stonewall Pageant at B Bar and Grille. Congrats to winners Carmen Adore and Marcus Morris.
