45th Annual Miami International Auto Show

November 6-15, 2015

Preparations are well underway for this year’s 45th edition of the Miami International Auto Show, which begins its 10-day run on Friday, November 6th and runs through Sunday, November 15th. Considered among America’s top five Auto Shows, the Miami show will again offer several hundred new cars, crossovers and SUVs from the major manufacturers.

“The response from attendees to the new autos and exhibits in recent years has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Jay Rivchin, show chairman. “The auto manufacturers have really stepped up their displays with a host of interactive activities to both engage and entertain our customers.”

Among the anticipated highlights of this year’s 45th annual Miami International Auto Show is the return of Cars Meet Art, a unique attraction inspired by urban graffiti art from Miami’s MiamiAutoShow_artHistoric Wynwood District. Topless in Miami, presented with the support of the Southern Automotive Media Association, will spotlight the industry’s hottest convertible cars and Havana Classics returns with its nostalgic display of classic cars from Havana of the 1940s and ’50s.

Cars Meet Art: The exhibit is dedicated to highlighting the urban art explosion in Miami’s Wynwood District and showcases the works of several U.S.-based, world-famous street artists. A variety of cars and matching murals will be painted and put on display to pique the interests of a wide range of show-goers.

Cars scheduled to date for the artistic treatment are the Buick Enclave, Dodge Challenger, Fiat 500x, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda CX-3, and Subaru Forester. But more than getting just a look at what the artists come up with, show-goers may also walk up to Ally Auto Alley and design their own Cars Meet Art-like creation on touch screen displays. Fun and fresh, their designs will automatically be entered into an Ally Auto Alley contest for chances to win different prizes. The Cars Meet Art display will be inside the Convention Center’s Junior Ballroom and will feature a DJ and interior enhancements to add to the experience.

Topless in Miami: Winners from this year’s event, held last summer, include the Porsche Boxster GTS, selected as Convertible of the Year. The Boxster also claimed top honors in the Performance Class, beating out the iconic Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Ford Mustang, and Nissan 370Z. Other winners were the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe in the Super/Luxury Class; Maserati GranTurismo Convertible in the Luxury Class; Mercedes-Benz E400 Cabriolet in the Full-Size Class; and the Mazda MX-5 in the Small Convertible Class.

DJs will be on hand spinning summer musical favorites, and special live steel drum and guitar performances are scheduled during the show’s 10-day run. The Topless in Miami exhibit is presented with the cooperation and support of the Southern Automotive Medial Association, one of the nation’s fastest growing automotive media groups.

Havana Classics: This year Havana Classics will showcase a 1932 Chevrolet Deluxe Sports Roadster that was called “The Great American Value” when it rolled off the assembly line over eight decades ago. Launched amidst the Great Depression, the spiffy little roadster seated two up front and two more in the rumble seat, featured a six-cylinder overhead valve engine known as the “stove bolt 6” that produced 60 horsepower, and was mated to the first Synchromesh three-speed manual transmission. It was sometimes referred to as a Baby Cadillac because of the styling cues it took from the luxury coupe. Only 8,552 units were built, less than 3 percent of Chevy’s total production of 313,395 vehicles, and the selling price was $500, a mere fraction of the five figures it can draw at auctions today.

Adjacent to the main entrance of the Miami Beach Convention Center, Camp Jeep will offer visitors off-road driving experiences demonstrating the legendary 4×4 capabilities of Jeep vehicles.

Attendees will not only have the opportunity to see, touch, and feel the latest 2016 models, but will also have to chance to drive certain makes as well. Ride & Drive opportunities offered during weekend hours along the picturesque streets of South Beach will again provide an amazing backdrop for select manufacturers to promote their newest autos.

A number of media events and unveilings will be held during the Auto Show’s Press Day on Friday, November 6th. Last year, Maserati celebrated the brand’s 100th anniversary at the Miami auto show and the Lamborghini Huracan made its southeastern debut while the Pagani Huayra made its official East Coast debut.

The Auto Show is presented by the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association which comprises more than 190 dealerships in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties making it larger than some state-wide auto dealer groups.

Admission to the show is $15 for adults, $6 children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.miamiautoshow.net.
