It was a pleasure to sit down with Artistic Director, Bryan Santiago, for this exclusive Hotspots interview:

What age did you start skating?

I started skating when I was 12. I actually was a ballet dancer before I skated. My family moved to a new city where my grandmother worked at the skating rink. I started skating and enjoyed it a lot so I started taking lessons.

What was your first paid skating gig?

I started skating professionally in the summer of 2008.

What was your favorite show to perform in?

I performed on Disney on Ice World of Enchantment and I was a principle skater where I performed Andy from Toy Story. I enjoyed that immensely.

When did you become Artistic Director?

This is my second tour as AD, as I got that job in 2016. As a performer I really enjoyed bringing different characters to life. Now I get to help my performers bring the characters to life and get to help them grow as performers.

Do you enjoy being on tour even after all these years?

I do, and it’s been 10 years on the road. Now when I go home on my breaks, I get a little stir crazy being in the same spot and not having to pack my suitcases.

What do you do for fun?

It’s really fun to explore the different cities. I love the coffee shops, art museums, etc.

Do you explore the cities with you cast members?

It varies. I do like my alone time, but I also I love developing a relationship outside of work with my co-workers.

Is this just a kids show or will adults enjoy it?

Disney on Ice presents Reach For the Stars caters to everyone and is not only a show for kids but something parents and longtime Disney fans will enjoy. The show incorporates a mixture of new Disney movies kids are more familiar with, including Tangled and Frozen, plus the classics their parents grew up with, including Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.

What should the South Florida audiences expect from this show?

This is an exciting show since it has four different stories and it starts out with an 80’s medley. Also Ariel does an Aerial act which is amazing. The show finishes with Frozen, which lets be real everyone loves.

Tickets for Disney On Ice presents Reach For The Stars start at $16. All seats are reserved, and tickets are available online with Ticketmaster, by calling 800-745-3000, and at each venue box office. Stay current on the latest developments through social media:
