Will They Ever Learn?
An organization calling itself the National Straight Pride Coalition has come forward with a proposal for a “straight pride” parade planned for Aug. 24, 2019 at Graceada Park in Modesto, California. Plans for a similar parade in Boston have already made headline and did not sit well with LGBTQ rights advocates.
According to an article by HuffPost.com, the Modesto event taking it one step further and is promoting itself as an all-encompassing event focusing on right-leaning stances on social issues. A “celebration” of “heterosexuality,” as well as “Western civilization, Christianity,” and “babies ― born and unborn” are just a few of the topics attendees are expected to “celebrate.”
Pop singer Halsey summed up most of our thoughts on this spectacle during her London concert in June. She wore a shirt that said “F#ck Your Straight Pride” on the back during her performance. We couldn’t agree with you more, sis.

One Day at a Time
A new study shows that an HIV vaccine under investigation resulted in a “robust immune response in healthy adults.” Now the vaccine is moving to the next step, which will include 2,600 high-risk women in Southern Africa.
Called the “Mosaic vaccine,” it is one of only four HIV vaccines ever tested in human subjects.
Lead researcher Dan H. Barouch, MD, PhD, of the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Harvard Medical School cautions against being too hopeful about the vaccine until the number of trials are increased.
Barouch said results of the next phase of research on the Mosaic vaccine are expected by 2021 to 2022.
