Cocktails for Compass is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and some special guests are making this year a not-to-miss event! For the past 20 years, the second Sunday in December has been a special night for Compass LGBTQ+ Community Center as the area’s most influential residents gather in support of Compass’ mission. Cocktails for Compass takes place at Club Colette, and local attorney and influencer Bill Bone will be emceeing the evening and introducing special guest speaker, and former owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kevin McClatchy. Miami Beach will host the city’s first-ever Human Rights Expo at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden (2000 Convention Center Drive). The event will bring together 10 volunteer committees dealing with everything from human rights to Black affairs, affordable housing, and other topics of equality. Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year to commemorate the day in 1948 that the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The following committees will be participating: Human Rights, Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, Black Affairs, Disability Access, Health Care Task Force Subcommittee, Hispanic Affairs, Homeless, LGBTQIA+, Quality Education, and Commission for Women.
The City of Wilton Manors, The Wilton Manors Business Association, Hotspots/Happening Out and the Crown & Anchor Provincetown presents the annual Wilton Manors Holiday Spectacular at Richardson Historic Park and Nature Preserve at 7pm. Historic Stranahan House Museum (335 SE 6th Avenue) will be decking the halls, the walls and more with spectacular Victorian era décor for the Victorian Christmas Tours in December. Costumed tour guides in fabulous gowns and waist coats narrate the origins of many holiday traditions and demonstrate how pioneers celebrated Christmas as they take guests on a whimsical journey of Christmas past amid picture-perfect Victorian era décor. Tours are one hour and are scheduled from Friday-Sunday, from today through the 18 and Friday, December 23. There is a maximum of 10 visitors per tour. The Greater Fort Lauderdale LGBT Chamber of Commerce presents their annual holiday mixer at B Ocean Fort Lauderdale form 5:30-7pm. This event will feature the famous Mermaids and Aquamen show in the Wreck bar. They will also be awarding several grants celebrating LGBTQ business resilience as part of their partnership with the NGLCC and Grubhub community Impact Program. The event will feature complimentary beer and wine for the entire event, complimentary Hors D’oeuvres, a chance to win a two night stay with breakfast and a chance to win dinner for two at Naked Crab.
