Prince Williams was spotted enjoying dinner at an LGBTQ+ restaurant while on a visit to Poland, where same-sex unions are not yet recognized by law. The Butero Bistro, which identifies itself as a “queer space with comfort food,” is located in the Polish capital of Warsaw.
It serves up drag-themed karaoke nights, promoting inclusivity in a country that has a lackluster record on LGBTQ+ rights. In addition to refusing to recognize same-sex marriage, Polish law does not regard trans people as a protected group.
During his two-day visit to the country, William’s Kensington Palace team arranged for this dinner. As per the news reports, the Prince of Wales personally requested to join his staff. William has spoken out in support of queer communities in the past. In 2016, he appeared on the cover of Attitude, an LGBTQ+ magazine, and denounced homophobic, bi-phobic, and transphobic bullying in an interview for the cover story.
