Pride Skate Nights Moves to Thursdays Starting May 4.

Business for the Arts of Broward’s (BFA) 5th Annual ART + STROLL, presented by BBX Capital, takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lobbies of buildings 200, 201 and 301 E. Las Olas Blvd. in downtown Fort Lauderdale. It’s a FREE family-friendly event, but a limited number of upgraded tickets to attend the Sip & Stroll culinary food and drink experience are on sale for $50 per person. They can be purchased online at bfabroward.org. ART + STROLL is a juried art exhibit with live artist demonstrations, sidewalk chalk art, and live entertainment from Art Prevails Project, Broward College Big Band, Florida Children’s Theatre, La Vie, Indigo Event’s Jazzy Rose and Cammie Liz. Art will be available for purchase.

White Elephant Group (WEG), a South Florida-based collective of emerging artists and filmmakers, is thrilled to announce its first-ever WEG WEEKEND from today through April 30 at Mad Arts, 485 S. Federal Highway in Dania Beach. This three-day cinematic extravaganza will showcase the unique voices of South Florida filmmakers, with screenings of award-winning shorts and features from the region, as well as select works from The WEG Short Film Lab, made in partnership with White Elephant Group’s nonprofit, After School Film Institute (ASFI). Tickets are priced from $15-$25 for day passes, $45 for weekend passes, with discounted student rates available for $40 with a valid student ID. Noche Latina Saturdays presents “A Royal Affair as they pay tribute to The Miss Florida F.I. Pageantry System and feature all 4 court members: Juliana Rivera (Miss Florida), Tayanna Love (Miss Florida at Large), Rolly Villaverde (Mr. Florida M.E.), and Tasha Long (Miss Florida Supreme). Today is the 7th Annual Pride Center Rainbow 5K. Stroll, jog, or run your way across the finish line with your closest friends and family! Participants will run throughout the beautiful 3.1 miles 5K course through the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Holiday Park (1150 G. Harold Martin Dr, Fort Lauderdale). The Rainbow Run is part of The Pride Center’s health initiative programming. More than 500 participants are expected. The starting line will be at the main entrance of Holiday Park and runners will warm up at 7am and take off at 7:30am. Registration admission is $45 for adults. The first 300 participants will receive a Pride Center Rainbow 5K Run t-shirt, a draw-string bag, and a medal! Proceeds of this event support the vital services and programs of The Pride Center at Equality Park.

Art Frenzie Gallery in partnership with Drag On The Drive Hemp & Specialty Gifts will feature Doggie Drag on the Drive from 3 to 7pm. The event will feature a special fashion show showcasing Robyn Buchwald’s custom designs, along with International and local artists including pet portraits by artist Sheila and Photographer Dara. Contests with prizes for: Best Smooches, Best Costume, and Best Wag. Pet accessories and yummy CBD treats are available, designed especially for your fur babies. Pride Skate at Xtreme Action Park is moving from the first Wednesday of the month to the first Thursday of the month starting today. Pride skate is presented by Hotspots Magazine and Happening Out TV from 7-10pm and is a fundraiser for Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade and Street festival. The event features DJ T-Pro mix, divas Velvet Lenore and Rianna Petrone, skating, and a full liquor bar. Eagle Wilton Manors presents their monthly Full Moon Party starring DJ Seth Breezy.

May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage month, and the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) will celebrate the rich culture, traditions, history, and music in collaboration with Polynesian Proud Productions today at its 12th Annual Asian-Pacific American Heritage Celebration. The month of May was chosen for AAPI Heritage Month because it commemorates the immigration of the first Japanese people to the United States on May 7, 1843. Gulfstream Park Village will host a Meet & Greet event with South Florida celebrity interior design expert and television personality Martin Amado from 1-3pm. The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) is pleased to announce two exciting exhibitions opening today and showing through October 1. “Lonnie Holley: If You Really Knew” invites visitors to experience the work of prolific artist Lonnie Holley in his first major exhibition in the South. The second showcases the work of 12 intergenerational South Florida artists selected to show their work in the “South Florida Cultural Consortium (SFCC)” exhibition. The 12 artists were selected through the SFCC 2021-2022 Visual and Media Artists Program, which awards a grant and the opportunity to take part in an exhibition at a visual arts institution in one of the five counties (Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach).
