It was a pleasure to chat with out cast member Dikki Martinez, for this exclusive Hotspots interview:

How old were you when you began skating, and did you always have the performance bug?

I started skating when I was about 8. I never had the performance side of me until I grew up and became more of a mature skater.

At what point did you consider skating a possible career?

After competing for nine years, and then retired, I decided to try and make a living at this sport that I have been doing for more than half my life.

How did you get hired at Feld, and what’s the best part about working for Feld Entertainment?

I was a big Disney on Ice fan and went to almost all their shows. After one of the shows, I was going through the souvenir program and in the back, it said “join us” so I sent an email to casting. They responded by telling me what to prepare and I sent it to them. I got a response back within 2 hours. Then I auditioned in person and got hired. The best part is the traveling aspect of working for Feld/Disney On Ice and performing for thousands and thousands of people.

What are some of the favorite cities you have toured?

That’s a hard one…I would say in the states its Savannah Georgia, and NYC, and internationally its Vienna, Paris and Buenos Aries.

Who are your idols/mentors in the Skating industry?

When I was still competing my skating idol was Alexei Yagudin.

What are you planning to do after your skating career?

I am not sure yet, but I will keep skating as long as I can; it’s very special to me. I will probably stay in the industry and either couch, or choreograph, or both.

Are you single or dating?

Single.

What makes the perfect guy for you?

The perfect guy must be as funny as I am, and they have to be understanding of my traveling lifestyle. It is crazy and I know that’s not easy.

Describe yourself in three words?

Funny, sassy, and approachable.

What do you do for fun?

I read a lot, and I draw on my iPad. I also tend to sing a lot of Broadway musicals.

What does the future hold for you?

I hope only for good things; I know bad things happen, but I am a very optimistic person. I would love to be a performance director of a Feld/Disney On Ice show and in the future I would love to be a part of the casting process.

Why should our readers come see Disney on Ice’s Into The Magic?

This show is unique as it’s a good mix of classic and new Disney movies. The opening number gets the audience up on their feet and it gets everyone going. There’s tons of good skating and tricks. There are so many good parts of this show, I guarantee your audience will love it.

Is there anything I didn’t ask you that you want to talk about?

Yes, I am an ensemble skater so I am lucky enough to get to skate in every single segment of the show.
