Social media platforms and online communities are hugely popular among the LGBTQ+ community. Online platforms like Facebook and TikTok, including dating sites and communities like Reddit allow marginalized voices like LGBTQ+ to be heard, enabling widespread awareness and fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity. LGBTQ+ youth, in particular, have found solace in online spaces where they can find support and connect with like-minded individuals, even if they are geographically isolated. And why not? Considering the present environment in the country and increasing hatred against the community, many want to know if they can be safe. Attacks by evangelical Christians and conservative churches make many LGBTQ+ community members self-doubt, and they feel forced to stay quiet and closeted for the sake of their mental and physical safety. This is heartbreaking, but this is true for many of us. Platforms like Reddit are offering these people the much-needed outlet to express their feelings, fear, love, and faith. Reddit communities like Open Christian, Gay Christian, Gay Jews, and Trans Christianity allow people to come and discuss topics that are specific to the faith and queerness without being judged. There are hundreds of thousands of interactions with these queer religious communities every week. These communities are offering online queer users a platform to get their religious doubts discussed. But is this the best place to explore our queer faith and how will traditional religious institutions like churches respond to this new and emerging trend?
