Pride Skate Nights

Thursday, February 1

Tonight, is the monthly Pride Skate (first Thursday of the month) at Xtreme Action Park (5300 Powerline Road, Ft laud) from 7 to 10pm with the theme “LOVE SKATE,” where they invite you to come with your valentine or come and find your valentine. The night will star Velvet LeNore, Rianna Petrone, DJ T-pro, and a full liquor bar and lots of fun! Pride Skate Nights are a benefit for Stonewall Pride.

GroundUP Music Festival, named by The New York Times in its decade in review of the Arts as one of the “top 10 definitive moments of the decade” in music, and dubbed “the Art Basel of music” by Miami New Times, reveals an electrifying lineup for its eighth annual event, takes place today through February 4 at the iconic Miami Beach Bandshell. Charles Horton and the staff and management of Le Boy will be having a huge celebration for their 9th anniversary. Everyone gets a free wheel spin which features lots of prizes.

The Our Fund Foundation 5th Annual South Florida LGBTQ Philanthropy Awards takes place today with the reception from 5:30-6:30pm, Award Presentation from 6:30-7:00pm, and the Post-Reception from 7-8pm at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in the Mary N. Stork’s Bakery features Francisco Sheuat (Mixed Medium…recycled Aluminum Cans) who’s art will be on display & for sale from today through March 3rd. Francisco is an award winning, and TV series Art-Loft featured artist, is a self-taught artist. He was also an artist-in-residence at the Fort Lauderdale Arts District – Fat Village for 12 years. Francisco currently has his art studio in Wilton Manors where he creates and exhibits his unique art. Francisco, is doing a meet and greet on Feb 9th from 6-8pm.

The Pride Center’s ongoing wellness and health initiatives presents the 8th Annual Rainbow 5K Run/Walk where runners will warm up at 7:15am courtesy of Challenge Fitness and take off at 7:30am. Participants will run throughout the beautiful 3.1 mile/5K course through the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Holiday Park (1150 G. Harold Martin Dr, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304). Registration admission is $45 for adults. The first 300 participants will receive a Pride Center Rainbow 5K Run t-shirt and a medal! Proceeds of this event support the vital services and programs of The Pride Center at Equality Park.

Monday, February 5

Miss Palm Beach Pride Pageant is at the Lake Worth Playhouse starting at 7 pm. Ticket prices are $15 and $20 at lakeworthplayhouse.org/limited-engagements/. Come out and cheer on your favorite queens as they compete for the crown as well as be there for the announcement of the first Mr. Palm Beach Pride.

The 8th Annual Riverwalk’s Chili Cook-Off takes place today at Esplanade Park from 12 to 4pm. This is the chili cook-off where not only do the attendees get to sample the chili, but they are also the judges! The event is free to attend and there will be chilies of all kinds. The afternoon will be complete with live entertainment, vendors, and fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. The theme for this year’s event is “TAILGATE” so all of the competitors and attendees are encouraged to root for their favorite team.  Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is still accepting applications for competitors, teams can sign up at goriverwalk.com/Chili24 from vendors and competitors. Latinos Salud presents their Miami Gala entitled “The Reveal” where everyone who attends will get the first look at their new SW Miami office (8946 SW 40th St, Miami). It’s Super bowl Sunday and I am sure there are parties all over town, but the only one we know about at Press Time is Pub on the Drive’s “The Big Game,” where they invite you to watch the game all throughout the Pub. They will feature many specials including 5 wings for $7 and an appetizer platter for $25. In addition, they will feature a Chicken Wing eating contest during half time.

Pride on the Drive 2024; Friday and Saturday, Feb 9 &10

Wilton Drive comes alive in celebration of Pride Fort Lauderdale. Enjoy the different activities happening in the Shoppes of Wilton Manors (Alibi’s and Hunter’s Parking lot) and throughout other areas on The Drive. Hunters and Alibi both have Outdoor stages. On Friday Hunters features Thunderpuss, and Alibi features the Carnaval Macho Stage. On Saturday, Hunters features recording Artist Kristine W and Alibi features Glowland Stage.
