Atlanta Proves It Is The Center Of Black LGBTQ+ Universe With Global Black Pride

The Empire City of the South seems to also be the heart of the growing Black LGBTQ+ community. Atlanta will host its inaugural U.S. event for Global Black Pride later this year, from August 27 to September 2. Micheal Ighodaro, President of Global Black Pride, expressed excitement, highlighting Atlanta’s rich civil rights legacy and vibrant community as the perfect backdrop to celebrate diversity and equality. Malik Brown, Atlanta’s LGBTQ Affairs Director, hailed the city as a beacon for human rights and LGBTQ+ equality. Atlanta Global Black Pride will offer an array of activities, including workshops, conferences on human rights, lectures, and empowerment brunches. Additionally, attendees can enjoy a booze cruise, dance parties, live performances on the main stage, and Whipped University – An Erotica Dance and Theatric Experience. Established in 2020 amid the global pandemic and economic downturn, Global Black Pride emerged as a platform to unite and engage the isolated Black queer community. Last year, it held its inaugural in-person event in Toronto. Atlanta Global Black Pride 2024 marks the event’s U.S. debut.
