LGBTQ Representation Lags in Fortune 500 Boardrooms

New research shows a “rainbow glass ceiling” exists that prevents LGBTQ professionals from reaching corporate boardrooms and C-suite roles. While there are notable queer leaders like Apple’s Tim Cook, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and Airbnb’s Tara Bunch, the reality is stark. Out Leadership estimates that less than one per cent of the 5,670 boardroom seats at Fortune 500 companies are filled by LGBTQ directors. Although representation has improved for women and other minorities, queer professionals still face significant barriers.
