With LGBTQ rights under attack nationwide, a groundbreaking new study finds young queer and trans Americans facing a growing mental health crisis. The Trevor Project’s Project SPARK followed 1,689 LGBTQ+ youth, ages 13 to 24, across the U.S. from 2023 to 2025. The study found anxiety symptoms rose from 57% to 68%, depression from 48% to 54%, and suicidal thoughts from 41% to 47% in just one year. Fourteen percent reported being unable to meet basic needs, rising to 21% a year later.
