Wanda Sykes said, Oh, I came with notes, and the Golden Globes were never the same. While presenting the best stand-up, Wanda joked that some people were mad a queer Black woman was doing the job of two mediocre white guys. She playfully shaded nominees, but saved her sharpest read for Ricky Gervais, who wasn’t even in the room. Wanda thanked him for not being there and said if he won, she’d accept and thank God and the trans community for him. Wanda proved once again: comedy can be funny and punchy.
