LGBTQ Sports Hall of Fame Names Class of 2026, Honors Billie Jean King and Jason Collins

The LGBTQ Sports Hall of Fame has announced its class of 2026, honoring 10 trailblazing figures whose impact spans athletics, media, and advocacy. Alongside the new inductees, tennis icon Billie Jean King and former NBA player Jason Collins will receive the Glenn Burke Award, recognizing those whose courage and authenticity have transformed the sports landscape. Established in 2013, the Hall of Fame celebrates the global contributions of queer people in sports.

Chair Scott Bova said the honorees represent the heart of that mission. Bova said, “Their contributions to sports and advocacy have paved the way for greater inclusion and have inspired countless athletes and fans worldwide. We are honored to recognise their legacy.” The 2026 class includes AAGPBL player Maybelle Blair and Olympian Nikki Hiltz, a trans and non-binary distance runner advocating for inclusion in track and field. Also inducted are NBA referee Bill Kennedy, rugby star Phaidra Knight, educator and coach Anthony Nicodemo, and more. Together, the class reflects decades of courage, excellence, and visibility across American sports.
