Nintendo fans are celebrating as Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream adds same-sex couples, plus non-binary and asexual options. Players can now choose gender identity and dating preferences, with options for one, more than one, or none. One fan wrote, “TOMODACHI LIFE HAS NON BINARY OPTIONS OMFG NINTENDO HAS GONE WOKE.” Another added, “Oh my god you can actually be asexual in Tomodachi Life holy s**t my jaw dropped, I feel seen.” Right-wing backlash followed, but the support overwhelmingly dominates. The game launches April 16, 2026.
