And they called it puppy love! Galleria Fort Lauderdale will celebrate Valentine’s Day with “Love at First Bark,” a dog adoption expo and doggie fashion show competition on Saturday, February 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Main Level near Macy’s. Pet lovers and cuddly canines are invited to set tails a-waggin’ with event host Local 10’s Animal Advocate Reporter and News Anchor Jacey Birch.
“Galleria at Fort Lauderdale is proud to host this dog-focused community initiative in support of local pet adoption and rescue organizations,” said Melissa Milroy, marketing manager at Galleria at Fort Lauderdale. “On Valentine’s Day, we celebrate love in all forms but there is nothing more heart-warming and rewarding than saving, adopting and creating a fur-ever friendship.”
The canine adoption expo will include participating organizations such as Good Karma Pet Rescue, Everglades Angels Hound Rescue, Humane Society of Broward County, United for Animals Rescue (UFAR), and others. Local businesses such as Woof Gang Plantation and Auggie’s Pet Supplies will showcase available pet products and services.
The red-themed doggie fashion show will feature a high-energy runway show with prizes awarded to trendy owners and their fashionable furry friends. Categories for the event include Best Dog Walk, Best Dressed, Dynamic Duo and Best in Show. The Best in Show winning pair will receive $250 plus another $250 donated to one of the participating pet rescue organizations. Other award prizes include a voucher from Woof Gang Plantation for one 4-ounce bag of treats for 12 months and Auggie’s Pet Supplies will provide a gift basket assorted with dog items, food, toys, and treats.
Milroy added, “Over the years, we have held several pet initiatives, and we are glad to bring this to life. This effort shows our commitment to the community for years to come; and in this case our beloved furry friends, too.”
