Trump’s Black History Month Speech Raises Eyebrows With Nicki Minaj “Beautiful Skin” Remark

During a White House reception marking Black History Month on February 18, President Donald Trump made comments about rapper Nicki Minaj that quickly drew attention. Recalling Minaj’s recent visit, Trump said: “Do we love Nicki Minaj? She was here a couple of weeks ago. So beautiful. Her skin, so beautiful. I said, Nicki, so beautiful…Her nails, her nails they’re like that long,” Trump said, indicating the length with his hands. Minaj had appeared at the Trump Accounts Summit on January 28.

Speaking at that event, she said: “I am probably the President’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change. And the hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more, it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more…We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him and you know the smear campaigns, it’s not going to work. He has a lot of force behind him and God is protecting him. Amen.”

Minaj, previously viewed as an LGBTQ+ ally, has recently faced criticism for her anti-LGBTQ+ and hateful posts and comments, including remarks aimed at journalist out Don Lemon. The recent remarks made by Trump has brough this new and bizarre alliance into the picture again.
