Trans Period Pride Relocates After Right-Wing Backlash, Organizers Confirm Event Not Canceled

An annual Massachusetts event focused on menstrual equity for transgender people will continue at a new location after facing right-wing backlash and reports of cancellation. The event, organized by the Massachusetts National Organization for Women and the MA Trans Political Coalition, focuses on challenges faced by transgender people who menstruate. Sasha Goodfriend, executive director of Massachusetts National Organization for Women, told Them, “We have secured a new location and are finalizing a security plan. Details about the venue and event logistics will be announced next week.” The controversy drew national attention partly because Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s Office of LGBTQ Advancement was listed as a supporter. Wu has previously been criticized for allegedly using taxpayer money to fund “wellness allowances” for LGBTQ+ migrants.
