The Bears of South Florida, one of South Florida’s most loved Gay social organizations brought some holiday cheer to the community on Friday, December 8. The event was full of fun, drinks, dinner, fellowship, and holiday vibes. However, this annual party was not just limited to fun. It was also an opportunity for the Bears to give back to the community. The event started at 6.30 PM at The Pride Center at Equality Park on Friday and the organizers soon announced their 2023 give back to the community. In 2022 they raised $20k for charity and this year they gave back $40K. The 2023 Grant recipients included reputed LGBTQ+ organizations. Here is the list of organizations and the grants they received at the Annual Party. Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida was awarded $5K, and so was Island City Stage, The Pride Center At Equality Park, SunServe, Plays of Wilton, and South Florida Pride Concert Band. Other organizations like TRANSsocial, Prism, Sage of South Florida, Arts United, and Equality Florida received a $2k grant each. Both SunServe & Stonewall Pride had their grants matched by AHF through the Florida Aids Walk. Having raised $40k, this year, as compared to $20K last year, it was undoubtedly a successful event. The Bears of South Florida is a non-profit organization and a social/charitable group that raises funds through a variety of activities and then donates that money to support other non-profit LGBTQ+ organizations in our community.
