Glenn Douglas Packard es un hombre súper ocupado. Acaba de coreografiar los premios juventud el pasado mes de julio aquí en Miami y ahora tiene varios proyectos planeados. Packard lanzó a la fama cuando Michael Jackson le escogió a coreografiar su reunión especial. También vivía con Brooke Hogan en Miami mientras grabaron su programa Brooke Knows Best para VH1. Fue un placer hablar con Glenn, es un hombre muy simpático, y aunque no nos conocemos en la vida real, es obvio que es buena gente, es dedicado a su carrera, y que está viviendo su sueño.
¿Qué estás haciendo hoy en diá?
Acaba de trabajar con Fanny Lú quien está volviendo a sus raíces musicales con su nuevo proyecto. Ella quería mi ayuda en el video de su canción nueva, escrita por Carlos Vives. Es fantástico ver que está volviendo a sus raíces y siendo fiel a sí misma. Pienso que va a ser muy exitosa. Tambien acaba de terminar con The Men of the Strip, un show de hombres en Las Vegas, y actualmente estoy dirigiendo una película.
¿Cuál es tu meta cuando estás trabajando con unos de los nombres más grandes en el espectáculo?
A mí me gusta reintroducir a los artistas al niño que vive adentro. Intento recordarles de su sueño original, el sueño que ya están viviendo, aunque puede ser que lo han olvidado. Me encanta recordarles del hambre para el éxito que antes tenían y canalizar esa energía.
Eres un hombre gay y no eres Latino, ¿cómo te tratan las artistas latinas?
Pues ven mi curriculum vitae y el calibre de trabajo que he hecho en el pasado. Se trata del trabajo, no tiene nada que ver con el origen étnico, si usted trae un sabor de las diferentes culturas, que va a hacer un impacto y que el proyecto sea más único. En cuanto a la homosexualidad, nunca ha sido un problema especialmente aquí en Miami.
Ya mencionaste que estás dirigiendo una película, ¿por qué decidiste involucrarse en el cine?
Yo estaba muy enfermo a principios de 2015 y me vi obligado a acostarme en la cama durante 3 meses, y siempre trato de convertir algo terrible en algo bueno, como yo lo hice con mi pierna, que no acaba de caminar de nuevo, yo bailaba! Lo mismo otra vez con estos problemas, yo estaba completamente agotado y tuvo que tomar un descanso, y yo contemplaba lo que tenía que hacer y decidió dirigir una película. Nunca se configura en una forma de cambiar.
Tienes otros proyectos planeados?
Sí, Estoy trabajando en un nuevo concepto con una cadena de televisión. Es como una mezcla del Bachelor y Bailando con las estrellas. Todas las detalles ya vienen, así que estén atentos.

Glenn Douglas Packard is a really busy man. He just finished choreographing the Premios Juventud Awards las month in Miami and now he has several projects that are about to launch in the near future. Packard shot to fame when Michael Jackson chose him to choreograph his reunion special, a show that saw the return of the Jackson 5 and earned Packard an Emmy nomination. Glenn also lived with and stared alongside Brooke Hogan in her VH1 series Brooke Knows Best. It was a pleasure to speak to Glenn. He is a genuinely nice guy and even though we don´t know each other in real life, it´s obvious that he is good people, he´s dedicated to his career, and that he´s living the dream.
What are you up to these days?
I just got to work with Fanny Lú who is going back to her roots. She reached out to me to help 
her shoot the video for her new song that Carlos Vives wrote for her new album. It’s great to see her getting back to her roots and being true to who she is. I think this is going to be really successful. I also just finished working on Men of the Strip, a male revue in Vegas, and I’m currently directing my first film.
What is your goal when you are working with the biggest artists in the game?
I bring artists back to being a kid- to help them enjoy the moment and bring them back to their dream, the that they are actually lucky enough to be living. I love to remind them of that hunger that they had before they made it, and channel that energy.
So being Gay and not being Latino- how are you received by the Latino community?
Well they see my resume and the caliber of work that I have done in the past, it’s about the work and not about your ethnic background, if you bring a taste of different cultures, it’s going to make an impact and make the project more unique. As far as homosexuality, it’s never been an issue especially here in Miami.
You mentioned you are directing a film, what made you decide to get involved in filmmaking?
I was really sick going into 2015 and was forced to lie in the bed for 3 months, and I always try to turn something terrible into something good, like I did with my leg, I didn’t just walk again, I danced! Same thing again with these problems, I wore myself out and had to take a break, and I contemplated what I needed to do and decided to direct a film. You are never set in one way to change. If you aren’t doing what you want to do- go do it. I´ve been doing choreography for 25 years but I‘ve always wanted to direct films, so I’m going to do it.
Are you working on anything else at the moment or just the film?
I´m working on a new concept with a major network that’s kinda like the bachelor meets dancing with the stars- the details are coming soon so stay tuned.
