This New Year’s Day South Florida will experience the resurgence of one of the most exciting events ever as Phoenix Rising welcomes you to 2010 with an all day event beginning at 7:00 am New Year’s Day at VooDoo Lounge in beautiful downtown Fort Lauderdale. Some of your favorite DJs along with other amazing talents in multiple bar areas is sure to make this an incredible event.

Phoenix Rising will feature music by Susan Morabito (New York City) in the Main Room. Morabito is a favorite to many due to her unique style that has set the bar for morning parties everywhere. Also spinning in VooDoo’s ENVY Room will be DJ/producer Michael Tank (Miami Beach/Houston). DJ Wendy Hunt (Ft. Lauderdale/P-Town) opens the patio at noon with DJ/Producer Eddie Baez (New York City) taking the Main Room beginning at 2:00 pm. I was excited to sit down and interview the 4 DJs that will be spinning at Phoenix Rising.

How excited are you to be involved with Just Circuit, specifically the Phoenix Rising Party?

Susan: I’m jazzed about playing the early morning set for the Phoenix Rising Party. Victor and Shane from Just Circuit have been nothing but gracious and professional, which always sets the tone for a positive event for all involved on every level.

Eddie: Super excited to be involved with Just Circuit. I’ve worked with them on a few other events and know that they know how to throw a party and they care about the people who attend.

Wendy: I’m very excited! The national buzz on this party is phenomenal. Loads of people coming from all over the map…and I live here! I’ve been a friend of the Just Circuit organization since its inception years ago and share personal friendships with all involved. I’m proud to be associated with this monumental event.

Michael: I am very psyched about being involved with Just Circuit and with Phoenix Rising. It gives me lots of joy to be a part of a party that gives something for the Ft Lauderdale boys to do on New Year’s Day. I am also very excited that we not only have the original New Year’s morning party DJ, Susan Morabito, but we also have the superstar DJs Eddie Baez and Wendy Hunt. I am proud for my name to be associated with the likes of all 3 of them.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

Susan: I really never have New Year’s resolutions. I’d like to be more consistent with going to the gym and eating healthier, so maybe I’ll make it my New Year’s resolution.

Eddie: To work on my music and make more people dance.

Wendy: Continued gratitude for the things life puts in my path.

Michael: To make more use of my new Mac and release a minimum of one slamming remix every month. Look out world!

3. What can the partygoers expect to hear from your set on New Year’s Day?

Susan: Much of what I’ll choose to do will depend on what the crowd’s responding to. I would like to start off by playing soulful house, as well as some tribal house but light, sexy and smooth. Expect amazing new things you may have never heard before mixed in with some familiar beats.

Eddie: Great vocals, awesome beats and I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Wendy: Expect hands in the air, welcoming the New Year, no holds barred, happy vocals from then and now…no darkness on the dance floor on a sunny Florida day!

Michael: Happiness! I believe music, especially in these times, needs to be fun and upbeat. Life is serious enough as it is. We turn to music to help us escape.

4. What’s ahead for you?

Susan: I recently just finished my first class in music production at Berklee [College of Music]. This January I’ll continue my education with a variety of classes that will equip me with the knowledge of producing a variety of styles of music.

Eddie: I will be putting out a lot more music that will be sold on the Just Circuit website.

Wendy: I have a great position (a real day job, as it’s known in the biz) at Numark Industries that I love and keeps me on my toes. I persevere and stay busy and have a good, honest life. One day a time on the same path is what’s ahead for me…it’s a big world out there…

Michael: I’ve got new remix projects coming and new collaborations with many names you already know here in South Florida. More details to come.
