You just never know what you will find in Ybor City! This past Saturday we went to Muvico in Centro Ybor to see the movie “Alice in Wonderland” in 3-D. All we can say is WOW! This is a see while it’s still in the theaters. After the film we went to the 1 year anniversary of the Ybor Eagle. The place was packed wall to wall with hot men, men and more men! Congratulations to the Ybor Eagle for all that they have added to our community!

Over at the Crowbar was the Freak Show Circus. My friends told me that we had to see this, so over we went. It was so very over the top and WILD. There were 5 performers in the cast, each with very unusual acts from eating glass, to fire juggling, to juggling to doing things I have never seen before with their bodies! Next time you’re in Ybor be sure to stop by the Crowbar. You just never know who will be on stage there!

GaYbor has gone drag crazy with shows at the Honey Pot, G.BAR and  Social. Now Hamburger Mary’s has added a second night of drag on Fridays. Chelsea Lounge has performers Saturday nights. Every Saturday night was just not enough! Over at Streetcar Charlie’s they have re-started their Sunday shows 7 pm. Daphne Ferarro is now planning on doing her fabulous and acclaimed production of “Evolution of Drag” at the Ritz Ybor soon… Can we all say, “Drag pageants!”? Drag pageants, Mr. Gay pageants and many more are all in the planning at the Honey Pot. GaYbor has truly become the drag pageant capitol of the southeast USA!

It was spotlights in the air, corporate backdrops, new limousines and Hollywood celebrities at the opening premiere night at Muvico 20 in Ybor City for the Gasparilla International Independent Film Festival. This is an annual festival weekend of independent filmmakers from across the country and around the world. The blocked streets added excitement and were filled with guest movie stars who were driven up to the red carpet affair. The streets were lined with movie star watchers, Ybor business owners and a lot of GaYbor members. Tampa Bay’s own WFLA Radio personality Jack Harris introduced the red carpet local and movie celebs. Famed talk show host Jerry Springer had a new movie he directed and starred in premiering Friday night, “And the Winner Is…” Others were Melora Harding of “The Office” who has the starring role in the movie, “YOU.” Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaches and players, business sponsors and county officials were chauffeured in. It was a great night out and the heavily attended attendees enjoyed themselves.

It sure showed off Ybor City in a very positive light.
