The St Pete Pride Parade starts at 10 am sharp starting at Georgie’s Alibi, heads to Kenwood and then up to Central and ends on 20th Street. The promenade has come a long way in eight years and in order to keep their event competitive and to be able to offer the community a top notch experience, St. Pete Pride has added a nominal entry fee to the promenade. The Bay area’s diverse GLBT community, including their allies, local politicians and businesses, enjoy a fun filled day packed with food, sun, dancing and enjoying the community. In just eight short years they have managed to become the largest Pride celebration in the state of Florida.
FESTIVAL
The Street Festival takes place every year in the Grand Central district from 21st to 28th Streets from 11am to 4 pm and last year attendance touched over 85,000 people. Parking near the festival fills up quickly, so the St Pete Pride committee encourages their attendees to park on the street. Be aware that paid lots, even though unattended, are managed by private organizations and often open up later in the afternoon. To assure that you don’t get towed, St. Pete Pride recommends using other lots and parking garages away from Tropicana Field or utilizing on street parking.
Stonewall Commemorative Reception is St. Pete Pride’s sponsor and friends reception from 6 to 9 pm on Thursday, June 24th at the St. Petersburg Museum of Fine Arts. Fine foods and beautiful art will be provided for those who have helped make St. Pete Pride a successful organization.
Pride In Fashion is the kick off pre-pride party with a fashion extravaganza presented by Macy’s on Friday, June 25th from 6 to 8:30 pm at Tyrone Square in St Petersburg. Join celebrity guests including winner of this year’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Tyra Sanchez and comedienne Christine O’Leary for this special look at what’s hot for this year’s Pride season.
