What’s HOT! South Florida September 23, 2010

Last Monday evening I was finally able to get over to the new J. Mark’s Restaurant on the corner of Federal Highway and 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale. I had the Chicken Madeira, a sautéed chicken breast topped with fresh asparagus and mushrooms in addition to a mozzarella and fontina blend. This is complemented with a Madeira sauce and Yukon garlic mashed potatoes which all just melted in my mouth.

HOT! Events in South Florida This Week

Last Week in Review

Last Monday evening I was finally able to get over to the new J. Mark’s Restaurant on the corner of Federal Highway and 13th Street in Fort Lauderdale. I had the Chicken Madeira, a sautéed chicken breast topped with fresh asparagus and mushrooms in addition to a mozzarella and fontina blend. This is complemented with a Madeira sauce and Yukon garlic mashed potatoes which all just melted in my mouth. My friend had the Chicken Fierro, which he said was scrumptious as well. We gave it a 2 thumbs up and you will be sure to see me there quite often. If you haven’t been yet, be sure to put this on your must eat at list! Tuesday was the monthly Mack Mixer at the beautiful Capital Grill at the Galeria Mall. As has been the case in the last year the lunch was sold out, so if you are interested in attending the October lunch at Tokyo Blue on Tuesday, October 5th reserve now at MackPlanet.com. Unfortunately this past weekend I caught a bad cold that kept me in bed all weekend (no, there was no hot man next to me… 9 ). However, my spy’s tell me that this weekend was filled with great parties all over South Florida.

Friday evening Sidelines celebrated the birthday of co-owner Marty and all the regulars were there to celebrate with Marty and the entire staff. Later that night the first annual Miss Cowpatty Pageant at Scandals was a hoot. Also on Friday was the return of Fuego Fridays at Blush in downtown Miami. Congrats to Lazarro Leon and the entire Fuego team for putting this night together. Then on Saturday evening it was back to Sidelines for the first week of Sidelines 2011 Sports Calendar Model Search. If you missed it, don’t worry, because you can go back next week for the final round of competition.

Later that night, my good friend Vegas Dion was celebrating her birthday at Discotekka with a Cleopatra theme. As you can see from the picture Disco went all out, as they do for all their themes. A big happy birthday to Vegas and I wish her many more years of success… MUAH!

On Sunday the Leather Masked Ball had their annual Barbecue and Leather Auction benefit at Scandals and once again it was a huge success, raising much needed money to produce their big event in November.

This is HOT

Share the memories and the merriment of one of my favorite sitcoms of all time with the hilarious and heart-warming “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” The complete seventh season arrives on DVD October 5th from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. From the love and laughter of Mary’s uproarious dinner parties to the chaos and camaraderie of the WJM-TV newsroom, “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” will always be remembered as one of the best—and best loved—shows of all time. Created by James L. Brooks (“As Good As It Gets”) and starring Mary Tyler Moore (“The Dick Van Dyke Show”), Ed Asner (“Up”), Betty White (“The Golden Girls”), Valerie Harper (“Rhoda”), Ted Knight (“Caddyshack”) and Gavin MacLeod (“The Love Boat”), the venerated series consistently ranked among television’s top-rated programs during its distinguished seven-year run.

The final season of the enduring classic includes such series milestones as the birth of Ted and Georgette’s baby, Murray’s tenure as a producer, Mary’s date with Lou, and the show’s bittersweet final episode, where the gang bids one last farewell to WJM-TV and each other. Winner of 29 Emmy Awards, including three for Outstanding Comedy Series, and three Golden Globe Awards, the beloved show made television history by depicting a strong and independent woman fighting to make a place for herself in a man’s world and gave rise to some of television’s most memorable characters. Featuring 24 episodes, the collectible three-disc set also includes the never-before-available and fan requested “Final Curtain Call”, which aired only once on March 19, 1977. “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” The Complete Seventh Season will be available for the suggested retail price of $29.98 U.S. / $37.98 Canada. Pre-book it now.
